Sugar & Bruno: a local brand working with dance celebrities

The past few posts have been a focus on local brands that are making an impact nationally. One of the many – and I do mean many – events planned for this year’s Fashion’s Night Out in Indianapolis is a focus on local! The #FNOindy Social Media Lounge at the Artsgarden has invited local brands to share their products and visions with local bloggers.

I’m happy to announce that Sugar & Bruno is one of the Indianapolis brands visiting the lounge. There are many different styles and niches covered by local industry professionals. Sugar & Bruno is a brand that I’ve been watching for a while now.

When many people hear “dance wear” it often conjures up images of sequined leotards or dated styles that have stood the test of time. Sugar & Bruno was way ahead of the curve and realized the need to supply dancers and active individuals with a fashionable modern option. I’m not going to lie the: the Men’s, Women’s, and Accessories collections could easily be incorporated with active street wear. In fact, I know a stylist who used a Sugar & Bruno piece in their photo editorial.

The active wear is cool, comfortable, and a way for individuals to express their love of dance culture. And, it doesn’t hurt that the local brand has formed partnerships with a dynamic “Celebrity Design Team.” If you’re a fan of “So You Think You Can Dance (SYTYCD)” you’ll probably recognize some of the talent professionals below. The design team includes: Chelsie Hightower, from SYTYCD and “Dancing With The Stars,” Keltie Colleen, Radio City Rockette and professional dancer, Stacey Tookey, of SYTYCD and dancer for Celine Dion’s Vegas production, Mollee Gray, “High School Musical” dancer and SYTYCD, and the talented Kent Boyd from SYTYCD. The brand, started in 2007, has capitalized on the fact that people don’t want to settle for the status quo, but want fashionable options to express their creative passions.

Sugar & Bruno is just one of the brands who aren’t afraid to call Indianapolis home… and it’s still making a name nationally. We can hope that this trend continues and that brands share the benefits of bringing their fashionable visions to Indianapolis. Pattern might be a little partial, but Indianapolis is a great city to grow your industry roots. Yes, it does take some dedication and time, but brands have proven that it can be done.

I invite you to come check out Pattern’s events at Circle Centre Mall’s Artsgarden. Sugar & Bruno will be sharing about their brand in the Social Club 19’s Social Media Lounge on Sept 6 at 7:45. Check out Pattern’s link for a list of events happening all around Indianapolis. Will you be there?
