Pretty much everyone calls me by my nickname, Nikki. My name is actually Deaneka and I do have a few friends that call me Dbrown.

How old are you (if you don’t mind me asking!)?
Don’t mind at all, I am thankful for every year! I am 47 years old and proud of it. I love this age because I know exactly who I am and what I want.

Where are you from?
Born and raised right here in Indy!

Which neighborhood do you live in right now?
Lake Maxinhall/Allisonville Area. I grew up in South Broad Ripple area and love the fact that I am so close to my parents home whom just so happen to be my two favorite humans.

What do you do for a living?
I am a Professional Freelance Makeup Artist. I started my journey in makeup artistry in 2005 working for MAC Cosmetics at L.S. Ayres at Castleton Mall. Fourteen years later, I am 100% freelance and am my own boss. It has been a wild ride but I still love what I do!

What do you do as a creative outlet?
My job is my creative outlet. I absolutely love my job and the places it has taken me. I’ve had the opportunity to travel with clients and with production companies. I am constantly seeing cool places and learning new things through my job and meeting very interesting people.

What’s the most interesting thing happening in Indy right now?
There are so many amazing things happening in Indy right now. I absolutely love Mass Ave and am looking forward to seeing the completed Bottleworks project. Also, I just joined INDY MAVEN and am looking forward to connecting with a lot of talented, amazing women here in Indy.

Favorite local brewery, distillery or winery? (Or if not a drinker, then favorite eatery.)
I am more into trying different restaurants. The Eagle, Bakersfield, and Harry & Izzy’s are a few of my favorite spots.

Last trip you took?
Day trip to Cincinnati Art Museum to see The Art of the Burning Man exhibit. It’s a strange but very cool exhibit.

How did you first hear about PATTERN?
I first heard of PATTERN through Facebook. I learned more about it from a friend, Nashara Mitchell.

What event are you looking forward to attending this month??
Truthfully, right now I don’t have a lot of time to attend anything between esthetics school at Aveda and working my freelance jobs, my schedule is pretty full. In the spring, when school is over, I am looking forward to getting back to attending meet ups, the next PATTERN party and other networking events.
