Want to dress like Heidi Klum next spring? Then you’ll need to do some shopping at BCBG MAXAZRIA because the long-legged supermodel was front row and couldn’t wait to get backstage at the celebrity-filled show this morning.
If you’re looking for brightly-colored floral prints, you’ve come to the right place. The Spring/Summer 2014 collection that Max and his wife Lubov have put together is full of color in all the right places without being totally overwhelming. From the very first look, the prints were carefully appropriated, often as sheer panels surrounded by black or white. The effect is gorgeous, breezy, and sensual.
The silhouettes on many of the pieces have long, straight lines. Separates are highly structured, and there are some cropped white jackets here that I don’t expect to see hanging around the branded stores very long. The look is very feminine, with plenty of deep plunges on blouses that show off the collar bone and much below.
The one touch I didn’t care for was a half-peplum thing used in a handful of looks. The peplum was very much an interruption in the silhouette and had the appearance of being a bit lopsided. Fortunately, the look didn’t dominate too many of the designs.
Some of the maxi dresses, with sheer floral print panels down the center surrounded by black or white were among my favorites. These are wonderfully airy looks that walk well and will keep the wearer cool and stylish on those hot summer afternoons.
Shirt dresses were also very popular, especially toward the beginning of the collection. Again, the straight lines and layered look set a common tone that is very attractive for the season.
The BCBG MAXAZRIA collection is very appropriate for Midwest wear, and the good news is there are plenty of branded stores around so supplies shouldn’t be too limited.
