Name: Ike Stovall
Residence: Indianapolis, IN
Occupation: I am a model agent for Range Models. I curate a lot of their social media content as well as manage the models and book them jobs. I’m also in graduate school.
Where did you grow up? Lagos, Nigeria. I moved to Indianapolis when I was seven.

What is your earliest memory of a noticeable interest in fashion?
I would say in high school. I played basketball all throughout high school so I was wearing a lot of sweat pants and started building looks around them. I realized you could build fashionable outfits out of just sweatpants and t-shirts so that sparked my interest in fashion.

Who or what influences your style?
Alton Mason, he’s a super Model from Nigeria. I have always looked up to him, because I aspire to be in the fashion industry and to see someone from my country in the fashion industry at that capacity really influences and motivates me.

What are your favorite Instagram accounts to follow?
I follow a lot of streetwear accounts that are curated to show outfits and looks. That’s how I get a lot of my inspiration and new styling ideas. Outfit Influence is really dope. In My Telly is an account that features outfits based around Telfar bags, that’s really cool.

Describe your personal style in four words or one phrase.
Streetwear with a mix of punk.

What’s your go-to item in your closet?
I’m gonna stick to my roots and say black sweatpants. They go with everything. If I’m on the go I know I can throw together a cool fit in minutes based around sweatpants.

Who are your favorite designers, and what do you like about their designs?
I am obsessed with Telfar. I have a lot of pieces by them. It’s sort of a problem. I love their aesthetic and I think it’s great that they are making luxury bags affordable.

Did you ever consider leaving the Indy area? If so, what made you stay?
I graduated this past May and had plans to move to New York, because I had a marketing internship there. However due to COVID, the position was temporarily postponed. I guess you could say COVID made me stay.

What trends are you noticing for spring fashion?
I have been seeing a lot minimal coloring, shades in the nude pallet. I have also noticed a lot of white linen recently. I’m sort of getting a calm vibe for the spring which I think is awesome.

What’s next for you? What short and long term goals are on your list?
Currently I am working with a modeling agency as a model agent so I am really focusing on doing my best work for them. Here soon I am going to New York for a MAC Cosmetics campaign I booked a model for. My long term goal is to move to New York and work there.

Define fashion.
I would define fashion as a mood. You can tell my mood during that day based on what I am wearing. It’s almost like fashion is a personality trait.

Worst fashion trend?
It’s funny, because I used to be such a huge fan of distressed jeans but now i can’t stand it. I used to have a lot of pairs, but had to get rid of them.

Best fashion trend?
I really enjoy how suits have become more suitable for casual wear. It’s dope to see people curate streetwear basics and add a suit coat or lounge jacket to it. I’m really into that right now.

Last but certainly not least, name your favorite fashion icon.
Alton Mason, so much of my style and expression is influenced by him. He’s definitely my favorite fashion icon.

Keep up with Ike on Instagram!
