Dedee Northway is a fashion blogger with a love for vintage shopping! Although she grew up in the Indianapolis area, she currently resides in Carmel. Despite working in automotive marketing, she makes time to share outfits, tips, and vintage finds on her blog, Diary of a Mod Woman. She modeled a few of her favorite outfits and shared some of her style inspirations with PATTERN below!
What is your earliest memory of a noticeable interest in fashion? In middle school, my mother is very fashionable and I used to love to wear her clothes.
Who or what influences your style? You could say I’m fascinated with the 1960s. It was such a tumultuous time full of rebellion, war and those fighting for equal rights and individuality which influenced the most iconic, colorful, brave and bold fashion designs never before seen.
Describe your personal style in four words or one phrase. Fun, happy, colorful and bold!
What’s your go-to item in your closet? Mini Dress…surprised?
Who are your favorite designers, and what do you like about their designs? Mary Quant, Pucci and Mr. Dino. They are all the perfect representation of everything I love about mod fashion.
Did you ever consider leaving the Indy area? If so, what made you stay? Yes, when I was younger I thought about leaving Indy however, I knew in my heart that if I left I would return and I didn’t want to keep starting over. Now that I’m older, I’m so happy I never left. I enjoy visiting other parts of the country and the world and knowing that at the end of the adventure I’m coming home…back to Indy.
What trends are you noticing for spring fashion? Retro Retro Retro! Everything has come back around in full circle. In addition to mod looks from the 60s and 70s, it’s fun seeing how people are going crazy over 80s and 90s inspired fashion.
What’s next for you? What short and long term goals are on your list? I plan on continuing to build my blog @diaryofamodwoman and would like to have my own clothing line that’s mod inspired.
