In the average course of a woman’s lifetime, she will change her mind, her hair, her body, and most of all, her style, millions of times. Because like fashion, women are always evolving.
The question is, what to do with the stuff that just doesn’t fit (literally or metaphorically) anymore?
Get rid of it. That’s where Style Swap Indy comes in. While we can’t help you lose an extra five pounds or end a toxic relationship, we can help breathe new life into your wardrobe.
Style Swap Indy is a fun, eco-friendly shopping event where women bring a few on-trend items from their closets – you know, that dress with the tag still on it, or those shoes that were always just a half-size too big – and trade them for something “new” to them.
Here’s how it works:
- You bring 1-2 clothing items from your closet (on hangers), and one accessory (jewelry, a scarf or a handbag). Think clean and current — things you still love but that don’t fit you, your lifestyle or maybe even your closet anymore.
- After that, you’ll spend time sipping on cocktails, enjoying hors d’oeuvres, getting express beauty treatments and shopping local vendors while listening to music by DJ Gabby Love.
- When the announcement is made, you get to “shop” other women’s closets — arranged in a boutique-style setting — for items to take home in return.
The event, sponsored by Reis-Nichols Jewelers, takes place at the Omni Severin Hotel from 6-9 p.m. on Oct. 22. Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door. Proceeds go to The Star’s Our Children charities.
The first 50 women to arrive will receive a reusable Style Swap gift bag full of fabulous goodies from local businesses. Check out our website for a list of participating vendors. You do not want miss out on these!
We also collect personal-care items for local domestic violence shelters; in the past two years, we’ve donated more than 500 items. Bring a donation of new women’s underwear, feminine hygiene products, baby wipes or diapers to donate to local women’s shelters and we’ll give you a raffle ticket to win prizes.
