People of Pattern: Dylan Hodges

Dylan Hodges

Dylan Hodges is a very recent graduate of IUPUI’s public relations program with a minor in philanthropic studies. He formerly interned with Indianapolis Monthly in spring 2015, which ultimately turned into a temporary position with the magazine as digital media assitant. He has also interned with Pattern Magazine and its accompanying Mass Ave store.

What do your friends call you?

Dylan primarily, but I’ve heard it all; Dyl, Dilly bar, and my least favorite, Dildo.

How old are you (if you don’t mind me asking!)?

I’m 23, going on 24 in late-April.

Where are you from?

I grew up in Avon, Indiana on a county line road in a cozy lil’ house among the woods.

Which neighborhood do you live in right now?

I currently live in the Old Northside, and I love it!

What do you do for a living?

Right now I work at a restaurant as a server, and I am the shop keep at Pattern Workshop. I just graduated, so if you hear of any opportunities in journalism or public relations/communications, let me know!

What do you do as a creative outlet?

I like to write. I keep a gratitude journal reminding me of how fortunate I am.

What’s the most interesting thing happening in Indy right now?

We’re definitely seeing a housing boom, and an explosion of wonderful venues to eat, drink, and dance at, too! I’m also interested in how mass transit will continue to improve following the transit center’s opening.

Favorite local brewery, distillery or winery?

This is like asking what my favorite food is, because I love all food. I have got to represent my west side breweries, Thr3e Pints Brewing Co. in Plainfield, and Daredevil Brewing Co. in Speedway.

Last trip you took?

It’s been a while since I had the pleasure to travel, because I work so much! The last trip I took was in April to Chicago to celebrate my friend’s and my birthday. Take me back to Pick Me Up Cafe, right now!

How did you hear about Pattern?

I heard about Pattern during my undergrad through an ex of mine back in 2012, and I was so excited to hear there were people producing a fashion magazine right here in Indianapolis.

What are you doing this coming weekend?

Working at the Pattern Workshop. Come say “hi!” – we have a huge sale this weekend!

What event are you looking forward to attending this month?

New Year’s Eve party hopping. My friend Douglas’ annual NYE party is the one I look forward to most. The man knows how to throw a fabulous party!
