Inspired by ‘60s fashion and the mood she wakes up in, Karina Reske is always sporting something fashionable. The Brazilian beauty expresses her style through clothes and her blog to show off her fashion sense with an edge.
Name: Karina Reske
Residence: McCordsville, IN
Occupation: Chanel Make-Up Artist
AB: Tell me a little bit about yourself.
Karina Reske: I’m originally from Brazil and I’ve been in Indy for 13 years. I’ve been married for 11 years and I have three kids in school- thank goodness. I went to fashion school at the Art Institute and recently started working full-time again as a make-up artist after taking a long break while my kids were younger. I used to have a different blog with a friend of mine a long time ago which was really time consuming so I decided to do my own thing and start a fashion blog to have fun and show my own style.
AB: How would you describe your personal style?
KR: I like to mix a lot- I really don’t have a particular style. I like a bit of an edge. Some days I wake up feeling girly, some days I wake up feeling like wearing blazers and loafers. It really depends on my mood.
AB: Who are your style icons?
KR: I really like Kate Moss. Her style is cool, chic and laid back. I also like Gisele (Bundchen)- she’s gorgeous.
AB: What are your favorite local boutiques?
KR: I like to find things that are unique, so I don’t have a set list of stores that I shop at. I like beauty + grace in Carmel and other shops in Broadripple. If I were travelling, I would choose to go to a local boutique that’s unknown to find a piece to mix in with other high-end pieces.
AB: What do you like about the Indy fashion scene?
KR: People are supportive of one another. It’s a very united group of people, which is unique and they encourage people to wear what they feel their best in.
AB: Who is your favorite designer?
KR: For the longest time it’s been Karl Lagerfeld- I think the guy is a genius. He does Fendi, he does Chanel, and he does his own thing. He’s truly today’s top designer.
AB: One wardrobe essential you can’t live without?
KR: Do I have to pick just one? Everybody needs a little black dress. It’s cheesy but it’s true- you can do so much with it.
AB: Worst fashion trend:
KR: I am not a big boho person. Right now it’s all about the ‘70s and that’s my least favorite decade. I do have some boho-inspired pieces that I mix in to my wardrobe, but I’m not about the head-to-toe boho trend. It’s costume-y to me.
AB: Your best fashion look that you’ve worn:
KR: I have a couple of feather skirts that I love. Every time I wear them, people talk about them because they’re so old but they’re unique. It’s just fun.
