What do your friends call you?
It depends on when they met me but most commonly it would be Stone. In junior high, I came to school red-eyed and sleep deprived so one of my friends started calling me Stoney and it stuck. It did evolve into Stone eventually and was an obvious reference to being high, but it was before I knew what drugs even were. Nowadays it’s just Jeremiah or even JD (Jeremiah Daniel), possibly even Nickerson. The full list does include Snickers, Gerry, Ger, Lil Ger, Jay, J1H, Jeremy, and fav, Miah.
How old are you (if you don’t mind me asking!)?
That’s a little personal don’t you think? smirks 36 and it feels like 26.
Where are you from?
Cloverdale. A little town west of Indy, ever heard of it?
Which neighborhood do you live in right now?
Currently I’m living in Garfield Park and loving it!
What do you do for a living?
I’ve been freelancing for the past six years and yes, it’s as frightening as it sounds. The term freelancing is really broad so more specifically freelancing in production. One day it may be shooting interviews for a documentary, the next day may be doing sound for a tv spot, and the next might be editing product photos. A lot of different opportunities have came my way, and it’s allowed me to grow a diverse skill set. Most often I’m a cam op, as it’s my preferred role, but I’m slowly getting everything in place to launch Nusun Pictures.
What do you do as a creative outlet?
Since most of the work I do is commercial video production, I use photography as a creative outlet. If it’s not a commercial shoot, then there isn’t the normal limitations and expectations. It’s moodier, darker.
What’s the most interesting thing happening in Indy right now?
It’s really difficult to not mention something I’m a part of so I’ll say The Tube Factory because they do a lot to facilitate the arts and the community.
Favorite local brewery, distillery or winery? (Or if not a drinker, then favorite eatery.)
Revolucion in Fountain Square. It’s neither of the three but it’s low-key and close to home.
How did you first hear about PATTERN?
You mean the Indianapolis Fashion Collective? laughs Back in 2011, Catherine Fritsch had an avant garde fashion show that I filmed by chance through a mutual friend. Apparently it made it around to Polina because I heard from her shortly after.
What was your favorite PATTERN meetup and why?
The Milestone Issue release party. It wasn’t necessarily a monthly meetup, but the significance of the issue and the atmosphere of the party was full of energy.
