Dress for Success Event

by Andrea Cowley

Success Indianapolis hosted the 9th annual Stepping Out In Style fashion show September 22nd at the JW Marriott in Downtown Indianapolis. The popular fundraising event attracted over 900 guests, mostly women, and boasts a guest list including some of the city’s most powerful women in business and philanthropy. Dress for Success Indianapolis was also honored to have Dress for Success Worldwide CEO, Joi Gordon,  in attendance from New York this year. All of these people gather to support the important work Dress for Success Indianapolis does in our community. Providing disadvantaged women in our city to have the proper attire to get a job, then the support and resources to keep it, find a better one and achieve self-defined success.

Presented by PNC Bank, this year’s Stepping Out In Style event included the popular “Diamond Dig”, presented by Aronstam Fine Jewelers during the cocktail reception sponsored by Bedel Financial Consulting, Inc. where guests try their hands at digging for diamonds, jewelry and other gemstones.

After the program, dinner and an exciting Match challenge presented by RJE Business interiors, the models take the stage wearing fashions from local boutiques. These aren’t just models, these are influential and inspirational women in our community. Models this year included: Jennifer Browning Holmes, Sonia Chen, Jody DeFord, Anita DuBois, Jodi Hatcher, Melina Kennedy, Mary Leffler, Sherri Massa, Bev Miller, Naie Maurer, Jennifer Satterfield Siegel, Sara Snow, B. Kaye Walter and Kitty Wooley-Tharpe. Boutiques this year included, Marigold Contemporary Clothing, Lesley Jane, 8FIFTEEN, The Secret Ingredient, Yaprak Design Studio and Boutique and Lilly’s. The brave men of the Indianapolis Fire Department acted as escorts on the runway.
