How many times have you started a conversation with someone by remarking on a pair of shoes or a beautiful skirt? Fashion starts conversations. More and more, those in the Indianapolis fashion community are banding together to do more than just talk about fashion in our fair city – we’re coming together to create fashion– from street wear, to high art.
Art in the Round is a prime example of the ways fashion is being shared in our community, an event where local fashion designers showed off new designs.
We are so lucky to have these gifted designers that have chosen to keep their fashion roots in the Heartland, when a more established center of couture would welcome them with open arms. I’ve had the pleasure of working with R.Lynda and Nikki Blaine on events and both of these women embody style and elegance, in their person and with their designs on the runway. I was impressed with the other designers at this event, both Picnic and Lafayette fashion designer, Stephen Sweat, who brought along a crew of handsome gentlemen to help introduce his line to the Indianapolis fashion scene.
These events that feature local designers give Hoosiers a stake in the fashion conversation on a larger level, and these local designers are giving us something stylish to say.
